This book covers a selection of significant ,but perhaps lesser known events - stories of people and places from Liverpool’s incredibly varied history.
It tells of various locations around Liverpool as they are today, and recalls some of the fascinating events which have taken place there in the past, but are now almost forgotten. For instance, there are at least two different locations in the North Liverpool area, which link to the disastrous loss of the Titanic, romantic but ultimately tragic stories.
Another highly dramatic, but little known event from the first World War, concerns the Court Martial held at Grace Road Barracks, in Liverpool, of Canadian soldiers who had taken part in a mutiny at Kinmel Camp, St Asaph in North Wales in 1919.
Together, they fill in some of the jigsaw pieces that have often been missing from previous accounts of Liverpool’s amazing history.
